The Future Trunks 'Premium Color Edition' figure from 2016 is a re-release of the original 2012 version, featuring a lighter recoloring of his outfit and more shading on the Super Saiyan hair. Additionally, this version includes fewer accessories: 4 fewer pairs of hands, 2 fewer base form faces, and 1 fewer Super Saiyan face. Its mold is 100% identical to the original.
This S.H. Figuarts of Future Trunks is the 28th release in the Dragon Ball collection. Its edition is a 'Collector Shop' release (the equivalent of Tamashii Web Exclusive) and is a Premium Color Edition, specifically the second one. The first one was for SSJ Vegeta.
A Premium Color Edition is a re-release of a previously launched figure, modifying the original figure's colors, using the same mold, and adding or removing accessories. In the case of Trunks, a few accessories were removed.
The sculpt, joints, and included accessories are identical to the 2012 Trunks figure. The articulation system is 1.5, and as mentioned, its accessories are somewhat limited: it has one less face in SSJ, two fewer faces in base form, and two fewer pairs of symmetrical hands. It’s a shame, but its launch price was lower than the original.
The differences in color compared to the original are noticeable. In the clothing, we can see less shading and lighter colors, while the Super Saiyan hair has darker shading than the original version. You can check this yourself in the gallery above.
As of today (2025), we don’t recommend it unless you're a completist, especially since there’s a Trunks figure with the same appearance from his first appearance in DBZ and a 3.0 body, plus it has no shortage of accessories.
Still, if you want to learn more about the figure, you can watch the video we’ve prepared from the FigurAdicto X YouTube channel, where they show it off with an unboxing.
