The Goku SSJ S.H. Figuarts figure from 2009 is the second in the collection and the first Son Goku among many to come. It was a regular release figure, with very few accessories and a 1.0 body.
Today, the aspect that has aged the worst is its faces, which were painted using a different technology at the time, and unfortunately, Kakarotto didn't come out looking his best.
We have already mentioned that this figure is No. 2 in the Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts collection and that it is also the first Goku of the entire series. We also noted that it comes with few interchangeable accessories, and if you’ve noticed from the spec sheet above, it only includes 2 faces and 3 pairs of hands. You might say, “Well, it’s just a regular figure,” but nowadays, even inexpensive regular figures come with at least 3 faces.
And speaking of faces, that is the biggest flaw of this figure when inevitably compared to any of the current ones, as they don’t seem to capture the “essence” of the character.
In addition, we can point out that it is based on the Androids and Cell Saga, theoretically using the manga’s colors—hence the costume in that “old gold” shade. Another noteworthy aspect, which is becoming increasingly rare today, is that the entire figure is painted with shading, even on the hands.
Conclusion: When it was released, it must have been an awesome figure, especially considering it was a regular release by Tamashii and Bandai. But nowadays, unless you’re a completist, I wouldn’t recommend it.
